Product Description

Powder metallurgy contact materials (also known as electrical contacts) are key contact materials used in electrical equipment and instruments for currents on and off. By currents' on and off achieving circuit protection and control, and it is widely used in electrical apparatus such as high-voltage switches. This material is made into a two-phase composite material using powder metallurgy technology, with copper or silver as the matrix phase providing electrical and thermal conductivity, and the other phase being a high melting point metal or compound to enhance voltage resistance and arc erosion resistance. The application can be divided into three categories: high-voltage types often use tungsten based materials (such as CuW), low-voltage types mainly use silver based materials (such as AgCdO), and vacuum types use CuW or WCCu made by high vacuum technology. The core manufacturing processes include infiltration, powder mixing and sintering, and hot processing, which balance conductivity, resistance to fusion welding, and wear resistance performance through material combination and process optimization.

The powder metallurgy method has become a critical technology in the manufacturing of electrical contact materials due to its ability to produce components with high precision, excellent wear resistance, and tailored properties. It is especially advantageous for producing contact materials like AgW, CuW, AgNi, and AgC, which require a balance of conductivity and mechanical strength. Powder metallurgy allows for precise control over material composition and microstructure, enhancing the performance and lifespan of contact products in demanding electrical applications, such as circuit breakers and relays.
