The three visiting experts are prominent academic leaders in China‘s advanced materials field, each bringing expertise in a distinct area:
  • Professor Feng Jicai, a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, has long conducted fundamental and applied research on joining advanced and dissimilar materials, including welding under extreme conditions in space and marine environments. His work has made significant contributions to the study of interfacial reaction mechanisms and welding reliability in dissimilar-material systems.
  • Professor Yi Danqing, dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Central South University, specializes in high-strength, high-toughness magnesium alloys, heat-resistant aluminum alloys, and aluminum-matrix composites reinforced with nanoscale particles. He is widely recognized for his work on the design, strengthening, and toughening of lightweight alloys.
  • Professor Xiao Jiayu, who leads the materials science and engineering discipline at the National University of Defense Technology, has made significant contributions to the design, manufacture, and repair of polymer composite structures for advanced equipment.
Their research is closely aligned with Fuda's work in electrical contact materials, specialty electronic materials, and materials for 5G communications and new energy applications, creating a strong foundation for future collaboration.

All three experts have worked with Fuda over many years. Fuda has a long-standing industry–academia partnership with Central South University, covering areas such as R&D and talent development. The company has also signed an agreement with Harbin Institute of Technology, Weihai, to jointly establish an R&D center. The visit brought long-standing partners together again while opening new opportunities for collaboration.

Accompanied by Song Zhenyang, Group CTO and President of the Fuda Institute of Advanced Materials, and other members of the Fuda team, the experts toured the company's major production sites to gain a closer understanding of its product portfolio and end-to-end manufacturing processes in electrical contact materials, specialty electronic materials, and related fields.

The experts commended Fuda's commitment to its "1 Meter Width, 100 Meters Depth" philosophy, which emphasizes focus, specialization, and deep technical expertise. They particularly recognized the company's progress in advanced materials R&D and its innovation initiatives in specialty electronic materials.

Following the site tours, the experts met with Wang Dawu, Chairman and President of Fuda Advanced Materials Group. They then joined Song Zhenyang and the Institute's core R&D team for a focused technical workshop.

The participants agreed that close collaboration between academia and industry is essential to bridging the "last mile" between research and industrial application. Wang Dawu said Fuda looks forward to exploring closer collaboration with the three professors and their teams to help drive innovation and high-quality growth in China's advanced materials industry.
